I don’t know if you guys know this, but I’m going to University to study to be a teacher. At my school, we are required to take a bunch of pre-teaching classes before we get to go into schools and actually start “learning” how to be a teacher. Well, It’s taken me four, FOUR, years to finish these classes. And this semester, i started my “real” teaching classes, you know, the ones where they teach us how to teach.
And a big part of these classes is something that my school calls a pre-internship. I’m not student teaching, but I got into high schools and middle schools and observe teachers in my subject area. We were supposed to get our pre-internship placements last week, and we finally got them today!! I’m sooo happy! I get to observe a 10th grade Earth Science class for the first time!! I can’t wait.
I’ve never had an Earth Science class in high school. I was going to take one, but then dropped it so that I could take an online music theory class because at the time, I was going to be a music teacher. Funny how that class that I dropped has now become the subject that I’m going to teach!!
The Hunger Games is a trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins. For those of you not in the know, it’s set in a post-apocalyptic future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl (ages 12-18) from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television. Katniss Everdeen (the main character) volunteers to take her younger sister’s place for the latest Games. The story follows Katniss’ fight for survival in the Games.
The first book in the trilogy, aptly named The Hunger Games, was released in 2008 but hasn’t become popular until recently. With the Harry Potter franchise at an end and The Twilight Saga coming to a close this year, people have been searching for “the next big thing,” myself included.
Now, when my friend first brought me the books and told me to read them, I was a little apprehensive. It was so outside of the books that I normally read. But from the moment I started reading, I was hooked! It was sooo good! I then finished reading all 3 books in 4 days, keeping in mind that this was during my band camp where I was busy playing my instrument from 8am-10pm. I didn’t get lots of sleep that week…lolz!
Well, I’m in love! And this year (March 23rd) is when the first movie comes out! I’m super excited about it! I even got a Hunger Games calender for Christmas! I’ve been so obsessed with this that I even bought a magazine (and I don’t normally buy magazines) dedicated to the Hunger Games movie!
*sigh* I wish it came to theaters tomorrow…lolz
Oh yeah, I don’t even remember how I found this, but I found a person who is doing a Sims 2 version of the books. Check it out!
After much thinking and joining other competitions, I’ve decided to resurrect my sim’s reality show! We’re still in sign-ups now so if you are interested, check it out!
So I’ve been looking at getting back into modeling a little bit and I finally found something that looked really cool! It’s hosted by Vidkid/ColorMePink and is called Iconic. It’s a musical competition with bands, duets, and soloists. I’ve entered a duet, so meet Christine Brown and Tyler Shaw who are a part of the musical group, Hidden Crossings.
For this assignment we had to show/write about where our group came together, how they met, what made them start a band, that kind of thing. And we also had to provide a song that represented it. Here’s my assignment:
Song: Haven’t Met You Yet
Tyler had always been a very gifted musician. He had a life-long dream of being a part of a famous musical group. The problem was that he could never find someone who, in his eyes, was just as gifted as him. His family told him it was a foolish dream and that his sights were too high. They told him that he should give up on his dream and find a practical job. Tyler fell into a depression. He didn’t want a boring job sitting in a cubical all day long answering phones. He wanted to be out in the lights! But the way things were going, that was where his life was heading.
It wasn’t until he stopped at a small bar in town that a large ray of sunshine began to clear away his depression. Sitting at the piano was a girl who was playing the piano at a level that he’s never heard before. They way her fingers gracefully flowed over the ivory, the way he head gently bobbed with the flow of the music, the way her voice sang a perfect melody to match the harmonies – it was all too much for Tyler. He had finally found the partner he’s been searching for so desperately.
